Tales of migration from the grand hotels of the Alps
In the wake of the industrialisation that occurred between 1870 and 1914, more people than ever before set out across Europe: the Alpine region, too, was on the move. With the rise of tourism, construction workers, hotel staff, doctors and photographers from near and far travelled through the regions of Graubünden, Vorarlberg and South Tyrol in search of work.
This exhibition tells the story of these people – of their departures and arrivals, of their hardships and the new opportunities they found between St. Moritz, Lech and Meran.
Try something different
This exhibition transcends boundaries, both geographical and linguistic. It is a joint project involving four museums, in Chur, Zuoz, Lech and Meran.
Not everything has been translated. Why not try to understand a different, or even a new language? And, if you get stuck, your smartphone can help: scan the QR code – and off you go!
